The GEL-Netburner Ballistic is a new shoe in the netball range for 2016. The ANZ Championship and professionalism has created the need for position/player specific shoes to get players performing faster with more comfort.

Netball is one of the hardest sports on the body and in particular the lower limb so having the right shoe will have a profound influence on player performance.

With this in mind, the Ballistic has been designed to cater for players who are looking for a well cushioned, lightweight, responsive shoe. The most noticeable feature is its lightweight and ability to move in all directions with minimal resistance. This has been achieved by using Solyte, which is ASICS's lightweight premium cushioning material. Combined with a midsole tooling design that has multiple midsole/outsole flex grooves the shoe has outstanding freedom when moving forwards and side to side.

A Trusstic in the midfoot gives the shoe midfoot support but is not overly restrictive to allow the player to shift weight quickly when landing and rotating the body off into another direction. GEL in the rearfoot and forefoot further enhances the cushioning without compromising durability. With a midsole/outsole design geared towards cushioning and quick movements the upper has been created with a blend of stitched mesh and synthetic leather to provide medial and lateral support but keep the weight down.

A rubberized forefoot enhances the lateral support for the all-important landing and stopping required in netball. A traditional thermoplastic heel counter rounds off the rearfoot support to give the Ballistic added strength when landing and counteract the softer Solyte midsole design.

The GEL-Netburner Ballistic enters its first season into the popular Netburner Series and is certainly geared towards the lightweight midcourter (centre and wing attack or defense) who are always on the go. It will suit those where lateral support is not such a high priority and have liked the Netburner Professional but looking for something else to test. The neutral foot type with minimal injuries will also prefer this shoe for its performance orientated design and weight. Holding shooters and defenders who require a lot of lateral support may find this shoe less supportive laterally and prefer the Netburner 18 or Super for its full leather and more supportive outsole/midsole configuration.

The Ballistic is another shoe in the range that demonstrates ASICS commitment to produce performance orientated lightweight shoes for position specific functions. NB: This shoe also comes in a MT version (Mid cut) which will also suit those looking for a lightweight shoe for cardio/gym classes and court related sports e.g. Basketball or Volleyball.
